Go on a Utrecht Tap Tour

7 July 2020

Together with the other 5 Utrecht based breweries, we’re organising the Utrecht Tap Tour on July 19th. During this beerfestival a couch will bring you around the city to taste the beers from all different breweries.

At beerfestivals you’ll normally stroll around the festival site enjoying beers from all kind of breweries. Because of Covid-19 all festivals were cancelled this year. With the Tap Tour we want to give you a 2020-proof safe and responsible festival expierence.

For this Tap Tour we collaborate with Eleven Brewery, Oproer, Maximus, De Leckere and De Kromme Haring. When purchasing your ticket, you can decide at which of the six breweries you want to start your tour. After you have visited two other locations, the couch will drop you off at your first location again. We offer two different routes. Route 1 will take you to De Leckere, vandeStreek and Oproer; route 2 will have its stops at Eleven, Maximus and De Kromme Haring. To make sure you won’t miss a thing, beers from all breweries will be availlable on each route.

vandeStreek bier launches IPA for the aware consumer

28 April 2020

VandeStreek bier launches the first Dutch low-calorie IPA. Skinny Dippin’, a 4% abv IPA, contains 99 calories per can.

With Skinny Dippin’ vandeStreek bier reacts to the big demand for alternatives for the aware consumer. “This beer is first and foremost a very tasty IPA, because of the 99 calories per can it is a very suitable beer for the aware consumer”, says Ronald van de Streek from vandeStreek bier, “with Skinny Dippin’ we want to offer a choice on the beershelf in the store for people who are conscious about their lifestyle, but still want to enjoy a nice beer.”

A low-cal beer isn’t the first innovation that vandeStreek bier introduces for beerlovers who think a healthy lifestule is important. The brewery already has three non alcoholic beers on the market, started with the award winning Playground Non Alcoholic IPA. Ronald: “With our non alcoholic beers, we want to pack as much flavour as possible with as little alcohol as possible. For Skinny Dippin’ we saw a challenge to pack as much flavour as possible with as few calories as possible.”

Special hop treatment

Focussing on less calories, has some consequences for the brewing proces, says Sander van de Streek. “The biggest challenge was to get a beer with a full mouthfeel, but brew it with less malt, less residual sugars and merely 4% abv. We used special hop treatments to achieve this goal.”

Skinny Dippin’ has almost 30% less calories than Hop Art, the 5% abv core range IPA from vandeStreek. “Hop Art contains 138 calories per 33cl, Skinny Dippin’ only has 99”, says Sander. The difference with a regular IPA or tripel are even bigger, beers brewed in these styles contains 200 calories or more per bottle or can. Sander: “Taste is always our number 1 priority when we’re brewing a new beer. We brewed Skinny Dippin’ with three kinds of American hops which gave this beer great tropical flavours.”

Skinny Dippin’ is available in our webshop and the good Dutch beer and liquorstores.

vandeStreek shares revenue with hospitality sector

16 April 2020

VandeStreek bier will share a part of the sales turnover from the webshop with bars and restaurants. We want to give the hospitality sector a kickstart when the business can start again. Our webshop customers are the ones who decided which bar or restaurant will get our support.

For over a month bars and restaurants are closed down to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. “We suffer from that financially”, says Ronald van de Streek, “but the bars and restaurants who serve our beer, will suffer even harder”. Ronald: “We still have our sales to retail. Also the revenue of our webshop increased tremendously the past month, because the consumers know how to find local business online.

That’s why we decided to convert a part of our webshop revenue into beer for de hospitality sector. Ronald: “In our own way we can give bars and restaurants a kickstart. We will give them, the day they can open for public again, fresh beer which they can sell without having any costst”. The ammount of beer that will be donated equals 10% of the webshop revenue.

You, our webshop customer, are the one who decides which business we will help. In the webshop checkout you can tell us which bar in which city you want to support with your purchase. “We don’t care if that business already serves our beer, the most important thing is that together we can keep the hospitalitybusiness running”

Our Bourbon BA Barley Wine is the best barrel aged beer in the Netherlands

3 April 2020

VandeStreek bier won a golden medal at the Dutch Beer Challenge 2020 in the category ‘Barrel Aged’. The Utrecht-based brewery can proudly say that they brewed the best barrel aged beer in the Netherlands.

Sander and Ronald van de Streek, the brother who founded the brewery in 2013, are very proud with the golden medal. “Everyday we work really hard, together with our team, to brew and release the best beers. It is nice when a national jury rewards your hard work”, says Ronald. The award winning beer is the Bourbon Barrel Aged Barley Wine. Sander explains: “Regularly we let some of our beers age on old whisky barrels. This process gives extra flavours and depth to the beer. We were very pleased with how our Bourbon BA Barley Wine turned out”.

The brothers won a bronze medal in the category ‘Innovation: fruit’ with their Grapefruit IPA. “That is a fruity IPA with added grapefruit”, says Sander. Ronald says: “It was the first time that we used this method to give a beer some extra flavour, we’re very happy that people liked and enjoyed the beer!”

Because of the coronavirus the annual award ceremony could be followe through a livestream. The reaction of the team of vandeStreek bier can be watched in a video on the Facebook page of the brewery.

The Dutch Beer Challenge is a annual beercompetition where Dutch breweries can win medals in different categories.

Flatten the dip: support local and small business

2 April 2020

The measures against the coronavirus will be in force until at least the 20th of May. Because of this a lot of companies will get in financial trouble. In partiular the hospitality sector and companies that depend on the hospitality will see a dip in their revenue. These business will only survive this crises with your help! Let’s flatten the dip.

We are a healthy business. We grow fast and because of that rapid growth, we are not eligible for a lot of the government support. At the same time our revenue has decreased with almost 70% the last month. Only with your help we and other business like ours can survive this crisis and keep our staff employed.

We and a lot of other companies did a lot of work the past few weeks. A lot of restaurants started a delivery-service a local breweries and other small specialized business started a webshop in no time. It is important that you, as a consumer, will make use of these new possibilities.

Flatten the dip

A dip in revenue and cashflow is inevitable. Toghether we can flatten that dip. Order a meal at the local restaurant in your street, order a case of beer at your favourite brewery or liquor store. Everytime you place an order at a local business, you are helping to flatten that dip.

This graphic needs no explanation. With a to deep dip in cashflow, local and small business will not survive this coronacrisis. These are the companies that bring colour and diversity in the city, these companies fill your glass or plate with unique flavours and they’re creating jobs.

How can I help?

It depends on the type of business how you can help. Ask them about it! Here are some of our tips:

  • Not feeling like cooking today? Check if your favourite local restaurant is open for delivery or take out!
  • Do you want to drink a good craft beer from home? Order at small independent beer stores, liquor stores or directly a the breweries.
  • Buy a voucher at a pub or restaurant, this will keep their cashflow going for now.
  • Spread the word! The more people who are aware of their influence, the bigger the chance de small and local business will survive this crisis.

New core range beer: Hazy Weekend

30 January 2020

Hazy Weekend is de newest addition to our core range beers. Next to Turf ‘n Surf, Broeders, Hop Art, Playground and Fruit Machine this New England IPA will be availlable the whole year round. This beer is Hazy, Juicy and has a nice abv of 6,6%.

Always different hops

We only brew Hazy Weekend on mondays, when our brewers are still a bit hazy from last weekend. To start the week off with a smile, they grab the best, tastiest and freshest hops they can find. Every batch is brewed and dryhopped with different hops. Because of that every can will be a new experience; we will make one promise to you though: it will always be juicy. By the way, we don’t keep the hops a secret; it will be written down on the bottom of the can.

Always on can

During two inspirationtrips to the United States the past years, we drank a lot of New England IPA’s. What we tasted at the American craftbreweries laid the foundation for what Hazy Weekend is today. Just like the beers we drank in America, we put Hazy Weekend in cans. This will preserve the fresh fruity tastes of the hops longer and better.

Next to can, this New England IPA will also be availlable on keg. So go out and ask your favourite bar to put it on tap!

All in! – Four Aces Peated Quad

13 November 2019

We love to play. We play in our brewery, in our taproom; actually everywhere. It’s was only a matter of time before we would brew a collab with brewey Het Nest, from Belgium. A brewery which is fully themed with playing cards. And well, with a Belgium brewery you should brew a Belgium beer.

Four Aces is a Peated Quad with 10% ABV. The beer has a light smokey aroma from the whiskymalts and a deep dark colour. Perfect to drink during a winter pokersession.

Can you hear the Imperial Coffeemarch coming?

6 November 2019

We love our coffee. In the morning to wake up and to keep us going all day at the bottling line. And we love coffee in our beer! That’s why we are brewing the Dark Roast for years now: a coffeestout with roasted malts and coffeebeans. The result is a deep and balanced beer which tastes great while sitting at a crackling fire.

This winter we’re preparing our favorite stout even better for the cold. With a thick fur hat and a higher ABV of 10,5% the Imperial Dark Roast will keep you warm. So stay outside and enjoy a campfire.

The Imperial Dark Roast is available bottle from mid-November. Don’t want to wait that long? On the 8th & 9th of November you’re the first one to drink it from draft in our own taproom.
