2015 Was a year full of ups for vandeStreek beer. We can, looking back, almost not believe the amount of fun we had, how many fantastic people we have met and how many flavours we have discovered. We have grown with more than 100% and that grow we aim to continue in 2016! Our highlights of 2015 without a specific order: Silver Medal for Hop Art in the Dutch Beer Challenge All festivals, markets etc. where we could place our bars... Read more
This year we brewed BlackBock as the autumn seasonal. BlackBock is a black bock beer, brewed with German malts and hops. With onyly 6% ABV, this is the ideal beer for a drizzly day when you don’t want to go outside. JanIsDeMan, a tattoo / graffitti artist from Utrecht (BlackBook Tattoos) made the label design for us. Enjoy!
The summer has begun, so there’s plenty of reasons for some fresh beer. In collaboration with the band DEWITT from Utrecht we brewed a weizen with citrus juice as our summer beer this year. It’s the ideal beer to enjoy on a sunny day at the bar or at the barbecue if you ask us. Don’t forget to enjoy this beer with some good music! Check out http://www.dewitt-music.com and ask for DEWITT at your local bottle shop or bar. Cheers!
We’re in the mood for Spring! After the success of 6% Extra Lente last year, we brewed the same recipe under a different name this year. Zonnesteek is a fresh, sessionable hoppy blonde beer, brewed with 3 types of malts and 3 hop varieties. Where can you taste or drink Zonnesteek? Come to the Lentebockfestival 2015 at the Ledig Erf in Utrecht! Or ask for it at your local bar or bottle shop.
With currently 3 beers in our core range, we thought it’s time for a fourth! And we call it “Koper”. A Rye Pale Ale. We brew Koper with rye. And with German Perle hops, which enhance the peppery character of the rye in the beer. The combination of the rye, cara malts and a balanced basis of hops make Koper a beer to enjoy. American Cascade hops give the beer a fruity aroma and with the bitter taste and aftertaste... Read more
A few months ago on a sunny terras in Amserdam, together with Sebastian Mergel from de Bier Fabrik from Berlin we brewed up the idea of starting a collaboration through the association we both are members of – GACBB (Global Association Craft Beer Brewers). Before we knew it, the idea was online and brewer friends started to think along for this project. The result is GlobAle, a collab with Bier Fabrik, Elysian, Triggerfish, Lucky Bastard, Browar Ninkasi, Hort de Barret and of course... Read more
Since this week we have the honour to be mentioned in the book “Bier & Spijs” by Fiona de Lange and Jo Vaessen. Alongisde Jo’s dishes Fiona paired, without consent of the brewers, all types of beers among which are Elixir, Broeders and Dark Roast. Jo, owner of restaurant Dwars in Amsterdam, known for his food pairings with beer, has put down 70 dishes and Fiona, beer sommelier and beer lover for over 20 years, opened a row of bottles to... Hop Art #5, the fifth beer in the Hop Art series that we brewed this year, is awarded with a bronze medal at the 2014 Brussels Beer Challenge. The basis of this beer is a fairly standard IPA recipe with loads of classic American hops like Chinook and Cascade in the bitter, aroma and dryhop. To that recipe we added a bag of Carafa special III (black malt) to make the beer black and give it some more malty bitterness.
After all the Hop violence in the Hop Art series we came to the conclusion that Hop Art deserves its own place in our range of beers. Brewing is an art and the more art in your fridge the better it is. Hop Art is a blonde – all malt – IPA of 5% that bursts out of its seams with American Hops. We did not choose a ‘best of’ of the hop art series, no we brewed a new... Read more
De Amsterdamse ontwerpfabriek has been kind enough to make a 3D image of Utrecht with, in the middle a Pint Hop Art #6, shaped after ‘our shield’. ‘vandeStreek bier fuels the city’ with piping full of this orange, amber goodness. Because we did not wan to brew just any Double IPA, we went looking for a lesser known hop. We found Polaris, a German variety with lots of bitterness and an ice-mint aroma.
