Best and most tasty Milk Stout

12 April 2016

Last weekend we have won the first price at the most awesome Groningen beer festival with Cappuccino, our milkstout version of Dark Roast – our core range coffee stout. For the festival only we have made a very lmited amount of this special brewski. The cool thing about this challenge is that the beer is tasted by both a jury as well as consumers and off course we only brew our beers for them (you!)! In Dark Roast Cappuccino we...

Black IPA wins bronze medal

23 March 2016

At the Dutch Beer Challenge our Black IPA has been awarded a bronze medal. Our Black IPA – originally released in the Hop Art series is a returning special in our range. Some say this beer might be the cause of the recently debated hop shortage.  We are proud to be awarded with this medal by a profesional jury once again, Slainte!

Introduction: Playground series!

24 February 2016

In de Playground series we brew beers originating in our playground: the brewery! Recipes first came to our mind while sitting on a rocking horse, improved them gliding down the slide and tasted the first sip it in the little wooden house – that’s what kind of serie we are talking about. In the Playground series we wil try new hop varieties, barrel age some, search for the limits of what beer is, add some spices, the crazier the better.  ...

#HacktheBeerSwap

6 January 2016

Somewhere deep in the tranches of the Internet the biggest beer geeks meet and they speak about beers they taste and beer trips they make. One of the activities of this group of fanatics is the Beer Geek Swap – some sort of secret Santa but then with only beer! We simply love this concept! Passionate people discussing taste, balance while surprising one another. For that same reason we once started brewing and of course drinking and discovering Craft Beers. Don’t...

Turf ‘n Surf – welcome smoke and salt!

6 January 2016

Turf ‘n Surf is a tripel. We didn’t expect is either but this winter we felt like brewing a Belgian style beer. A regular tripel off course we didn’t brew, that’s too boring for us – welcome smoke and salt! The minimum amount of peated malt in this beer give it that subtile smokey hint which we complement with a pinch of sea salt. We brewed Turf ‘n Surf with Summer hops, a fresh Australian variety with a bang. Next...

2015 was awesome, 2016 is going to be awesome-er

1 January 2016

2015 Was a year full of ups for vandeStreek beer. We can, looking back, almost not believe the amount of fun we had, how many fantastic people we have met and how many flavours we have discovered. We have grown with more than 100% and that grow we aim to continue in 2016! Our highlights of 2015 without a specific order: Silver Medal for Hop Art in the Dutch Beer Challenge All festivals, markets etc. where we could place our bars...

BlackBock – a surprisingly dark bock beer

13 October 2015

This year we brewed BlackBock as the autumn seasonal. BlackBock is a black bock beer, brewed with German malts and hops. With onyly 6% ABV, this is the ideal beer for a drizzly day when you don’t want to go outside. JanIsDeMan, a tattoo / graffitti artist from Utrecht (BlackBook Tattoos) made the label design for us. Enjoy!

Food pairing with Elixir, Broeders or Dark Roast?

1 December 2014

Since this week we have the honour to be mentioned in the book “Bier & Spijs” by Fiona de Lange and Jo Vaessen. Alongisde Jo’s dishes Fiona paired, without consent of the brewers, all types of beers among which are Elixir, Broeders and Dark Roast. Jo, owner of restaurant Dwars in Amsterdam, known for his food pairings with beer, has put down 70 dishes and Fiona, beer sommelier and beer lover for over 20 years, opened a row of bottles to...

Hop Art without a number, what to expect?

30 October 2014

After all the Hop violence in the Hop Art series we came to the conclusion that Hop Art deserves its own place in our range of beers. Brewing is an art and the more art in your fridge the better it is. Hop Art is a blonde – all malt – IPA of 5% that bursts out of its seams with American Hops. We did not choose a ‘best of’ of the hop art series, no we brewed a new...

Hop Art #6 – Double IPA, exploring the hops

30 October 2014

De Amsterdamse ontwerpfabriek has been kind enough to make a 3D image of Utrecht with, in the middle a Pint Hop Art #6, shaped after ‘our shield’. ‘vandeStreek bier fuels the city’ with piping full of this orange, amber goodness.   Because we did not wan to brew just any Double IPA, we went looking for a lesser known hop. We found Polaris, a German variety with lots of bitterness and an ice-mint aroma.
